Maple and Vine

In late 2011, Pedro Pascal appeared in Maple and Vine, a darkly playful and piquant comedy by Jordan Harrison, directed by Obie Award winner Anne Kauffman. The production had its off Broadway home at Playwrights Horizons’ Mainstage Theater in New York City. It began previews on November 19, 2011, officially opened on December 7, and ran through December 23, 2011.

Pedro portrayed Roger, Ryu’s factory foreman, a role defined by its sharp edges and surprising connections to other characters, including Dean. Critics noted his convincing portrayal and his ability to make the character particularly sharp, as well as his versatility in doubling as one of Katha’s ditsy publishing subordinates.

The production held a press photo call on October 28, 2011, with rehearsal images capturing Pedro among the cast alongside Marin Ireland, Peter Kim, Trent Dawson, and Jeanine Serralles.
